Duties at Papercourt

Papercourt is run by its members (there are no paid staff) and depends on each and every one of them for its smooth operation. Carrying out Papercourt duties is a condition of membership, and each member aged 18 and over is required to carry out at least one duty in each of the six month periods January to June and July to September. Members Introduction to Duties. The duties are:

  • OOD (Officer of the Day)
  • SBO (Safety Boat Helm/Crew)
  • PRO/ARO (Principal/Assistant Race Officer)

The SBO Helm and PRO must hold an RYA Level 2 Powerboat certificate. Members can view the duties roster online, be automatically notified of their assigned duties, confirm availability and facilitate duty swaps.

Members can volunteer for a duty, and so choose the date, or wait to be allocated a duty. In either case they will be sent an automatic email asking them to ‘accept’ the duty. Once duties have been published it is a member’s individual responsibility to arrange their own swaps if they cannot perform their rostered duty. Members who do not complete their allocated duties during the year may not be invited to renew their membership.
