Duties at Papercourt

Papercourt is a member run club which is dependent on its members for its smooth operation. Carrying out Papercourt duties is a condition of membership and each member over the age of 16 is required to carry out at least one duty in each of the Summer and Winter Sailing programmes, some a little more.

As we have such a large membership the number of duties is far lower than any other sailing club in Surrey. Duties can be a fun way to meet others and we are often told of how a recent duty has been the catalyst that has enabled members to get more out of their membership, both on and off the water.

A feature of our club is that duty dates and types of duty (subject to suitable skills/training) may be selected prior to the programme being published; this is especially useful to family memberships. Look out for the sign-up sheet published in the clubhouse in advance of each new Sailing programme where you can choose your own duties and dates.

The Sailing programme and duty roster are published in the clubhouse and the roster is available online in DutyMan, the club’s duty rostering management system. Duty dates may be swapped online using the DutyMan system.

Once duties have been published it is a member’s individual responsibility to arrange their own swaps if they cannot perform their rostered duty. Members who do not complete their allocated duties during the year may not be invited to renew their membership.

DUTY GUIDANCE NOTES
Guidance Notes are provided for the various duty types. If you are new to the club or not sure what the duties involve please contact Lynne and she will arrange training.

CLUBHOUSE SECURITY
Rostered members are sent the security codes that they require by the DutyMan system. These can also be viewed and printed directly from DutyMan once logged in. The security codes are changed frequently so please always check on the system that you have the correct code prior to your duty.

The main Club room, where the Galley and Bar are located, is additionally protected by an intruder alarm. Operating instructions are made available to specific members as required – contact Lynne for details, marketing@papercourt-sc.org.uk

NB: please do not attempt to enter the main Club room without these directions as the alarm will be activated.
