Papercourt Weather

PSC Toppers at Rutland - 18/19 April

Over the weekend of 18/19 April, seven Papercourt Toppers attended the first Topper Nationwide Event at Rutland SC. On Saturday there was a cold north-easterly Force 5 all day and 4 races were sailed back-to-back with the sailors being on the water for over 6 hours. On Sunday, just 2 races were sailed in a more gentle force 3, allowing an early departure. There were 200 boats at the event and the races were sailed in flights, although 100 boats on a start line is still pretty tough. After the six races only one discard was allowed. Papercourt were well represented with Charlotte Bonella finishing 12th overall, discarding a 12th as her worst result and Ollie Machell was 28th overall counting a best result of 8th. Clive Jackson finished 56th overall and was pleased to receive a prize as the first adult. Jack Spence finished 75th with two results inside the top 30 and Joshua Tolley 83rd with a consistent set of results. Rebecca Clarke, still new to the Topper, finished 100th overall and Sammy Bonella finished 103rd after suffering gear failure and missing one race on Saturday and then achieving her first black flag in the first race on Sunday, but finishing the event with an 8th place.

The next event will be the Inland Championships at Grafham Water SC on 2/3 May. Good luck to all.
