Final instructions for this weekend 30 April
With all the fine weather it must be time for the start of Oppy training. In case you've forgotten, it all kicks off this Saturday (30th April). The details are:-
TIMING
Intermediate and Racing Groups - Registration from 9am. All sailors to be ready and rigged for briefing at 9.30am.
Beginner Groups - Registration from 9.45am. Briefing at 10.15. All sailors to be in sailing kit, rigging will be part of the training. Normal start time for beginners will be ready and rigged at 9.30am from 7th May.
Please refer to attached list (click here) for details of which group your child has been allocated to. We will sort out any issues with allocations in due course, please bear with us (we are only human!)
BOAT HIRE
We have 6 club oppys. Absolute beginners have priority on these. For this Saturday only all boats will be hired on a communal basis for the starters (B1). A pro-rata charge will apply. From week 2, first come first served (beginners only still). Fyi - there are lots of boats on the club board for sale - this is the right time of year to buy.
RULES & REGS
As part of the PSC training programme we must observe strict rescue boat/sailor ratios on the water. Our aim is to maximise all sailors' time on the water within these parameters. Please bear with us. A reminder of a few important things:-
- All children under 10 must wear buoyancy on lake side of club (plus adults must wear on pontoon)
- No kids in safety boats unless part of training
- No dogs
- All kids to be ready to go at briefing, late arrivals risk missing out.
- Masts must be tied in.
- All boats to have appropriate buoyancy
- Sailors to wear appropriate clothing (We plan to hold a second hand kit sale on 7th May - subject to volunteers to run it)
SAFETY BOATS
All those that volunteered to help Chris Bryant (our safety boat lead) should meet Chris at the engine shed at 9am. Only those with Power Boat 2 can drive but you no qualifications are required to assist set up!
IOCA LOG BOOKS
Please remember to bring them! The instructors will be assessing the sailors in the Intermediate and Racing groups so it would be helpful to know what they should know already.
LAUNCHING AND RECOVERY
All launch and recovery should be from the Right Hand Pontoon (close to where the Oppys are kept). To ease congestion, Racing Group may use the Left hand pontoon during mid morning snacks only (absolutely no launching/recovery from this pontoon).
We look forward to seeing you on Saturday.
Any questions please let Jeremy Riley know by email.
