The Graduate is great as a starter boat as well as having enough thrills
for more experienced sailors. It is an ideal boat for Papercourt Lake
due to it's size and performance.
The boat is well set up for an adult and child although it can be sailed
very successfully single handedly. The Graduate has recently benefited
from a sail design change which has improved performance all-round; the
new sail particularly benefits single handers allowing more control. Second hand boats are very affordable with many selling for under £1,000,
although new sails are likely to be needed.
The class benefits from a well established open circuit, the dates for
which are shown on the Graduate association web site:-

Ad hoc training occurs at Papercourt mainly in the spring and summer. It
has also been known for the Solo fleet to tolerate the odd Graduate at
their Thursday evening summer sessions. The Solo is a very close class
for the boat to compete with.
