Papercourt Weather

Solo Class at Papercourt

The Solo Fleet at Papercourt is one of the largest fleets of Solos at any club in the world

The Solo Fleet at Papercourt is one of the largest fleets of Solos at any club in the world with about 60 boats, which means that on race days there is always a good turnout with 20+ boats often taking to the water. This leads to some great competition at all levels, plus the opportunity for training for more novice sailors in the Class.

Amongst our membership is Mike Ball the Solo Class Association National President and Roger Puttock who is a Tideway, single-handed national champion.

Taking on the ethos of helping everyone; during the summer, from April through to September; we run our own training and race sessions each Thursday evening starting at 18.30 and followed after by a debrief session at a local hostillary. In the winter months we again run a similar session on each Saturday afternoon starting at 1.30pm.

At Papercourt the Solo helms receive a fortnightly newsletter to keep them up to date with news, results, events and items for sail etc. If you would like to go on the mailing list contact Jonathon Farnell (details in the box to the right).

The Solo fleet really enjoy their sailing and get great satisfaction from their Solo dinghies. If you would like to join us, please contact Jonathon Farnell.

News - December 2011

We have continued to have great weather all through November and was rounded off with a bit of wind on Saturday and Sunday.  From the Solo sailing on Saturday several people got a little wet as they practiced their swimming........ and just managed to dry out ready for the Laying Up dinner that followed.  There is a photo somewhere showing Mike Ball & Partick Fell looking very dapper!

Three Weekends of sailing before Christmas which should be enjoyable and a chance to get some general sailing input.  I have additional support on Saturday 17 December when I am running the sailing so please turn up if you want some help.

We look forward to our Dinner on Thursday 8 December as a good chance to talk boats, wind and life before Christmas.  Talking of which now that we are in advent I think it is OK to say Happy Christmas and Prosperous New Year and see many of you over the coming month.
