Papercourt’s Vice-Commodore, Jeremy Riley,¬†will be presented with one of the Royal Yachting Association‚Äôs (RYA) most prestigious awards by HRH the Princess Royal, President of the RYA, in recognition of his commitment to Papercourt. The Outstanding Contribution Award citation refers particularly to Jeremy’s role as lead for the Club’s youth section.
Sailing at Papercourt is a fun and inclusive sport for children. This was recognised by the RYA when the club was chosen as Club of the Year in 2013 and also awarded British Youth Sailing Recognised Club status in 2018.

We now have two Papercourt sailors in the RYA National Squad, one sailor in the ITCA squad and another in the London and SE Zone Squad.

Papercourt had ¬†three medal winners at the recent Championships at Datchet –¬† Kaitlyn Wyatt was 1st girl in Toppers, Anna Morris was 1st girl in Optimists and Leo Yates took 2nd place overall in the Optimist fleet.
Fraser Hayden came 2nd in the Solo Open at Dell Quay. Sam Edwards came 10th in the RS Aero Youth Nationals; and Melissa and Josie Meredith, who also competed in that event, went on to compete in the RS Nationals in Berwick.
Finian Morris did well in some challenging conditions in his first Optimist Worlds competition in Antigua. ¬†Toby Aldous competed as part of Team GBR in IOCA regattas in The Netherlands, and later gained a place in Team Flanders, competing in Belgium. ¬†And Johnny Woolgar and Anne Fredborg represented Papercourt in the Topper Worlds in The Netherlands.
Congratulations to James Boyce, who came first in the Solo European Championships (the Nations Cup) held at Carnac, France this month. James started in Oppies at Papercourt, moved on to bigger ¬†boats, went out racing on regional and then national circuits, he became an instructor and now he is a European Champion. Well done. His proud father came 34th.
