Youth winter training is aimed at experienced sailors.
From 09:30 until 13:00
Papercourt Youth / email@example.com
You must hold full Papercourt Sailing Club membership for you and your child in order to participate.
Youth winter training is aimed at experienced sailors interested in improving their sailing, including racing. It is hoped this will give them the opportunity and skills to equip them to participate in Optimist and Topper open meetings and/or Zone Squads and national events. There will also be youth training for Laser sailors on separate dates.
Our aim is to develop skills and confidence in Papercourt youth sailors in more difficult sailing conditions. Winter training is open to all youth sailors who are competent and ready for intensive coaching in cold weather. They will need suitable cold weather clothing - a dry suit is preferable for those new to winter sailing.
Youth winter training will run on the following eight Saturday mornings in separate ability groups:-
6 November 2021
27 November 2021
4 December 2021
15 January 2022
29 January 2022
12 February 2022
5 March 2022
19 March 2022
Briefings will be held at 9.30am, and sailors will need to be rigged and ready. The session debrief will be at 12:30.
Parents need to be willing to help out for a minimum of two duties, either running the tea bar or locking up the Club at the end of the day. You need to sign up for these at the time of application. Please indicate any date your child will not be able to attend so that you re not allocated a duty that day.
There will be a charge of £90 to cover coaching expenses for all eight training days. Sailors are expected to turn up for all sessions, but it is accepted that school commitments may affect this. There is no payment for individual sessions.
